Who is a Psychiatrist?
A Consultant Psychiatrist is a doctor that specialises in the treatment of mental illness.
This may include educating patients about their illness and discussing treatment options so as to achieve recovery. This could also include advise about lifestyle modifications, sleep hygiene and other ways in which improvement can be achieved.
A psychiatrist usually works with clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and nursing staff. Treatment could be offered both as an inpatient or as an outpatient (regular clinic appointments).
Dr Pramod is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Rockhampton. He is very passionate towards achieving best outcomes for his patients and has an aptitude for working with dedication so as to achieve this result.
Holistic Care
At We Care Clinic, Dr Pramod aims to provide a holistic (addressing your physical health, emotional and social needs) level of care to all his patients. His goal is to help patients recover to live the life they want by empowering, instilling hope and helping them develop a vision to look beyond the boundaries of mental illness.
Dr Pramod strongly believes that recovery is a journey rather than a destination and endeavours to guide his patients while taking this journey. It is his objective to help his patients understand that it’s not just about symptom resolution but also about improving the quality of life and making the most of it.
Mental health is as significant as physical health.
When mental health is compromised, it impacts on our ability to think and behave, which, in turn, impacts on our functioning. Psychiatric disorders can affect 1 in 5 people and can cause huge functional and economic impairments. With appropriate treatment, mental well-being can be improved. Just like any other illness, mental illness also needs the respect that it deserves. Always remember – Prevention is better than cure. However, in spite of appropriate preventative measures, mental illness could occur. So, when it does, getting help in a timely fashion is vital.
